Die casting is a metal type pressure carried out on a die casting machine and is currently the most productive casting process. Die casting machines are divided into two types: hot chamber die casting machine and cold chamber die casting machine. The hot chamber die casting machine has high degree of automation, less material loss, and higher production efficiency than the cold chamber die casting machine. However, due to the heat resistance of the machine parts, it can only be used for the production of castings of low melting point materials such as zinc alloy and magnesium alloy. Aluminum alloy die castings, which are widely used today, can only be produced on cold chamber die casting machines due to their high melting point. The main feature of die casting is that the molten metal fills the cavity under high pressure and high speed, and is formed and solidified under high pressure.

Die-casting is a precision casting method. Die-casting parts cast by die-casting have very small dimensional tolerances and high surface precision. In most cases, die-casting parts can be assembled without turning. Parts can also be cast directly. Small parts such as general camera parts, Sports equipment accessory, medical equipment fixture, combination locks parts, furniture accessories, electronic products, lighting radiators, security equipment parts, lampshade lamp housings are mostly manufactured by die casting.

Features of die casting: The advantages of die casting include the excellent dimensional accuracy of the casting. Usually this depends on the material being cast. Typical values are 0.1 mm for the first 2.5 cm size and 0.002 mm for each 1 cm increase. Compared to other casting processes, its castings have a smooth surface with a fillet radius of approximately 1-2.5 microns. Castings having a wall thickness of about 0.75 mm can be produced relative to sandbox or permanent die casting. It can directly cast internal structures such as wire sleeves, heating elements, and high-strength load-bearing surfaces. Other advantages include the ability to reduce or avoid secondary machining, high production speeds, casting strengths up to 415 MPa, and the ability to cast high flow metals, but usually, die casting parts couldn’t do heat treatment.


One of the most significant benefits of aluminum alloy casting is that it creates lighter parts—with more surface finishing options than other cast alloys. Aluminum can also withstand the highest operating temperatures of all the cast alloys. Moreover, cast aluminum is versatile, corrosion resistant; it retains high dimensional stability with thin walls and can be used in almost any industry.
